Acupuncture is an ancient treatment which is based on the balancing of the bodies meridians (pathways). It is believed that the imbalance of energy (chi), in these pathways, leads to poor health and certain conditions. This balance can be restored by stimulating certain points on the meridian pathways. This stimulation can be accomplished in various ways including pressure, electrical, laser, and needles.
Dr. Keating has been performing acupuncture since 1986. He has a fellowship in the Acupuncture Society of America and a fellowship in the International Society of Clinical Acupuncture. He has over five hundred course hours of training and has trained in Beijing China. Acupuncture is available with or without chiropractic care, but most patients enjoy enhanced benefits when combined.
Over 5,000 conditions can be treated with acupuncture. Most common ailments are:
- Back pain
- Digestive disorders
- Stop smoking
- Sports injuries
Dr. Keating’s college years involved work as a trainer at an Overland Park, Kansas fitness center. He has helped many athletes and patients over the years eliminate negative aspects of workouts aggravating their spinal condition, improving routines and creating a positive fitness attitude for lifelong enjoyment.
Like the spine, other joints can benefit from adjustments. Extremity adjusting is the aligning of the joints of the knee, feet, ankles, elbows, shoulders, and wrist.
Many conditions relating to these areas respond very well to chiropractic care and only require a few visits to determine if your problem is a chiropractic case, or if you require follow up care with an orthopedist.
- Shoulder Pain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Knee Pain
- Foot Conditions
Electrical muscle stimulation is electrical current that affects the myo-neural junction – or the area the nerve intervates or goes into the muscle. As the electrical current is increased there will be an involuntary contraction of the muscular area being treated.
Passive exercise (contraction and movement involuntarily done while the muscle is at rest) will exercise and thereby strengthen the muscle without injuring it. The area of involvement will then heal stronger and will be much more stable.
The contraction produced by the electrical current also helps to increase the circulation in the area through exercise, also promoting healing and strengthening the area of muscles involved.
Our office offers a selection of nutritional supplement products which Dr. Keating has personally found highly effective for various conditions. He has spent twenty five years studying the benefits of nutritional therapy and would be glad to discuss your personal need for vitamins, digestive aides, cleansers, and meal replacement products.
Spinal adjustment (or manipulation) is the process of aligning or moving the vertebrae to improve the relationship between the vertebrae above and below it. By improving this alignment, the patient receives improved function, better nerve and muscle performance, and decreased symptoms.
Spinal adjustment can be performed numerous ways including manual (by hand) and with various instruments. These adjustments may take some time to respond depending on severity and duration of the condition. The patient will receive a few treatments over a close period of time, much like rehab, to insure the quickest and most effective results. The treatments are safe and painless with few side effects. Your condition and treatment will be reviewed prior to starting care.
